TED CONSTANT CENTER CONTINUES TO CLIMB AMONG THE WORLD’S ELITE VENUES ACCORDING TO POLLSTAR MAGAZINE’S TOP 200 ARENAS WORLDWIDE CHART

Jan 19     2017

Norfolk, VA (January 19, 2017) – Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, which provides Venue Management and Ticketing & Fan Engagement to the Ted Constant Convocation Center at Old Dominion University, is proud to announce that the Constant Center is ranked #167 overall, according to Pollstar Magazine’s 2016 year-end report. This is the Constant Center’s third consecutive year-end ranking, up twenty-nine spots from 2015.

Pollstar Magazine is the only trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry. The year-end report showcases the top tours, arenas, theatres and more during the 2016 calendar year. Among venues with seating capacity of under 10,000 seats, the Constant Center ranked #17 worldwide, #5 in the country and #1 venue on a college campus. The charts, which cover the period of January 1 through December 31, 2016 are based on worldwide ticket sales to concerts and traveling shows and exclude sales generated from ODU sporting events.

“We’d like to thank Old Dominion University as well as all of the promoters, agencies and artist management for continuing to bring shows to this great venue,” said Spectra’s Mike Fryling, General Manager for the Constant Center. “This honor exemplifies the commitment our staff members are making in providing all of our guests a first class entertainment experience during all events at the TED”.

During the 2016 season, the Constant Center has welcomed a diverse lineup of events including sold out crowds for The Price Is Right Live! and Grammy Award winning recording artists Anthony Hamilton and Fantasia. Other noteworthy events included performances by The 1975, Kenny Rogers, Lil Wayne, standup comedians Gabriel Iglesias and Jeff Dunham and annual family touring events such as Sesame Street Live, The Harlem Globetrotters and Disney Live.

The Constant Center will continue to thrill patrons in 2017. Upcoming events include Eleven-time Grammy nominee, Charlie Wilson with special guests Fantasia and Johnny Gill on February 8, Green Day’s “Revolution Radio Tour” March 12, TobyMac “Hits Deep Tour” March 17, stand-up comedian Mike Epps with Bruce Bruce, Rickey Smiley and Felipe Espara on April 8 and the World Famous Harlem Globetrotters on March 24 & 26.
