Comedian and actor Steve Harvey is a media conglomerate who began his career doing stand-up comedy in the mid-1980s. His success as a stand-up comedian eventually led to a long stint as host of It’s Showtime at the Apollo. His success in stand-up comedy also led to multiple TV shows and movies serving in various roles on some projects by acting, hosting, writing and producing. He starred on TV in ABC’s Me and the Boys and on the WB he starred in The Steve Harvey Show. Harvey also hit the big screen in movies such as Love Don’t Cost a Thing, You Got Served, Johnson Family Vacation and Madea Goes to Jail.

Throughout his career, Harvey has never lost sight of his passion for stand-up comedy. In 1997 he toured as one of the Kings of Comedy alongside Cedric The Entertainer, the late Bernie Mac and D.L. Hughley. The tour’s immediate success led to the taping of one of the most successful comedy DVDs in history – The Original Kings of Comedy – directed by Spike Lee. In 2006 he released Don’t Trip…He Ain’t Through With Me Yet, a clean and family friendly DVD, unlike any he had done before; and in 2008 Harvey released a new comedy special on DVD entitled Still Trippin, a stand-up that went back to his original style of cutthroat and tell-it-like-it-is comedy. Most recently in early 2011, he paired up with Grammy award winner Kirk Franklin to kick off the first-ever Steve Harvey and Kirk Franklin Comedy Gospel Tour.

Currently, Steve Harvey is the new host of the long-running syndicated game show the Family Feud. He is also the creator of The Steve Harvey Morning Show, a nationally syndicated radio show that airs Monday-Friday, 6-10 a.m. EST in over 60 markets and has approximately 7 million weekly listeners. Harvey is also an author. His most recent book, Straight Talk, No Chaser: How to Find, Keep, and Understand a Man debuted on the list at #1 on December 26, 2010.

Long dedicated to philanthropy, Steve Harvey believes that “dreaming is more important than anything.” Harvey uplifts and provides various educational opportunities for the youth through the Steve Harvey Foundation, partners with Walt Disney World for the Disney’s Dreamers Academy and hosts the annual Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men. This year marks Steve Harvey’s 9th year hosting the Hoodie Awards, the popular awards show honoring community businesses and leaders in the nation.
