Known just as much for his permed hair as he is for his animated performances and quick wit, comedian Katt Williams has been making his mark in Hollywood for over 10 years. Beginning his career at an age when most teenagers are seeking their driver’s license, the young comic quickly discovered that he had a gift for making people laugh. Inspired by the likes of great humorists such as Richard Pryor Donn Knotts, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, George Carlin, Thomas Marshall, Jeff Foxworthy, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Seinfeld and Dave Chapelle, whom he calls the “Malcolm X of comedy,” Katt Williams’ entertaining standup routines are laying the blueprint for a new generation of comics.
An Ohio native, Williams began performing improv comedy as a means to gain entrance to clubs as a minor. Here, he quickly discovered his talents for making people laugh. Williams landed a breakout role on MTV’s “Wild n’ Out” hosted by Nick Cannon and has since become a staple comedian on BET and at several comedy clubs. In September 2006, he aired a 60-minute HBO special called “Katt Williams: Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1” which was watched by over 8 million people and became the highest rated special on HBO for 2005 and 2006.
Bringing laughter to millions of people is only one of Williams’ many talents, though; he has also acted and rapped. He is likely best known for his role as Money Mike in Friday After Next or as his character Bobby Shaw on My Wife and Kids. You may have seen Katt Williams in music videos for Ludacris and Outkast, however he also rapped alongside Baby Bash, The Game, and Suga Free.
